NUSA DUA

Planning a Nusa Dua Bali holiday? Discover the best resorts, beaches, areas to stay and things to do with advice from BlueSun Travel's Bali experts.

STYLISH BALI BEACH HOLIDAYS, DINING, SHOPPING & RESORTS

Nusa Dua Bali is where travellers go for the big Bali holiday resort.

Located on the southern side of the island, this purpose-developed tourism precinct is home to some of Bali's best-known luxury resorts, landscaped gardens, beaches, restaurants, spas and recreational facilities.

It feels very different from Seminyak, Sanur or Ubud.

That's important.

Nusa Dua isn't somewhere we'd necessarily choose because you want busy streets filled with independent restaurants, bars and shops outside your hotel.

We'd choose Nusa Dua because you want the hotel itself to be an important part of the holiday.

If your idea of Bali involves a beautiful resort, large swimming pools, breakfast you don't need to rush, beach time, spa treatments and deciding whether you really need to leave the property today, Nusa Dua deserves serious consideration.

WHY STAY AT NUSA DUA?

Nusa Dua is designed to make resort holidays easy.

The main tourism precinct has been purpose-developed with international hotels, landscaped grounds, shopping, restaurants, cultural facilities, golf and extensive tourism infrastructure.

That means you can spend considerably more of your holiday enjoying the resort rather than organising the holiday.

For families, this can mean pools, children's facilities and easy access to the beach.

For couples, it can mean spa treatments, good restaurants, comfortable rooms and days when there's absolutely no reason to rush anywhere.

Nusa Dua May Suit You If You Want:

❖ A high-quality resort holiday
❖ Beachfront accommodation
❖ Large swimming pools and resort facilities
❖ Luxury hotels and spas
❖ Family-friendly resorts
❖ Landscaped surroundings
❖ A quieter evening atmosphere
❖ Somewhere you can happily spend several days without doing very much

WHERE TO STAY IN NUSA DUA?

A location that matters

Not Every "Nusa Dua" Hotel Offers the Same Experience

This is important.

Accommodation marketed under the broader Nusa Dua name can be located inside the main tourism precinct, around Geger Beach, further south towards Sawangan or north towards Tanjung Benoa.

Those locations can deliver quite different holidays.

If being able to walk around the landscaped resort precinct matters, check the hotel's exact location.

If you're primarily choosing a spectacular beachfront resort and expect to spend most of your time there, being further away may matter considerably less.

Area Best For What to Expect
The Nusa Dua Precinct First-time visitors and resort holidays Major resorts, landscaped surroundings, beaches, shopping and established tourism facilities
Geger Beach Beach and luxury Attractive beach, luxury accommodation and a relaxed coastal atmosphere
Sawangan Luxury resort escapes Large upscale resorts where the property itself is often the main attraction
Tanjung Benoa Watersports and greater variety Resorts, local restaurants and easy access to a major watersports area

❖ BlueSun Insight: In Nusa Dua, Choose the Resort First

In Seminyak we tell you to think carefully about what's outside your hotel. In Nusa Dua, we'd put considerably more emphasis on what's inside it.

If you're going to spend several days beside the pool, eating breakfast at the hotel, using the beach, enjoying the spa and perhaps having dinner there as well, the resort itself becomes a much bigger part of the holiday.

Look beyond the star rating.

Compare the swimming pools, beach access, room location, breakfast, restaurants, gardens, children's facilities and how easy it is to move around the property.

A huge resort can look magnificent but may not suit someone who doesn't enjoy long walks between their room, breakfast and the beach.

Tell us how you actually spend a resort day and we'll help you choose the Nusa Dua hotel that fits.

NUSA DUA BEACHES

A major draw card

A Different Beach Experience from Bali's West Coast

Nusa Dua is known for attractive beaches and relatively shallow coastal waters, offering a very different environment from Bali's surf-oriented west coast.

The beach experience varies according to where you're staying, so beachfront access should be considered when choosing your resort.

Geger Beach

Geger is one of the area's best-known beaches and is particularly associated with the southern part of Nusa Dua.

Nusa Dua Beach

The main resort area provides access to long sections of beachfront, with many major resorts positioned directly behind the coast.

Some resort areas are connected by a beachside pathway, making morning walking and cycling another option. Indonesia Travel describes a 7 km beachside pathway around the area.

Remember the Tides

Beach conditions can vary throughout the day.

Don't assume that the stretch of water outside your hotel will look exactly the same at 8am, midday and late afternoon.

THINGS TO DO IN NUSA DUA

Nusa Dua shopping, dining, beaches and attractions

You certainly don't have to spend every day beside the swimming pool.

Although you can.

We won't judge.

Visit Water Blow

Water Blow on Peninsula Island is one of Nusa Dua's best-known natural attractions, where ocean swells strike the limestone coastline and send water upwards through the rocks.

Keep to designated viewing areas and follow local safety instructions.

Walk or Cycle Around Nusa Dua

The landscaped resort precinct and coastal paths make walking and cycling an easy way to explore the area.

Visit Museum Pasifika

Museum Pasifika provides an interesting cultural alternative to another afternoon beside the pool and is located within the Nusa Dua tourism area. ITDC lists it among the precinct's cultural attractions.

Play Golf

Golfers have access to Bali National Golf Club within the wider Nusa Dua area.

Go Shopping

Bali Collection provides shopping, dining and entertainment within the resort precinct.

Try Watersports

Nearby Tanjung Benoa is one of southern Bali's best-known areas for watersports.

Explore Beyond Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua can also work as a comfortable base for private touring elsewhere in southern Bali.

EATING & DRINKING IN NUSA DUA

Resort Dining Is Part of the Experience

Nusa Dua's major resorts generally provide extensive dining options, often with several restaurants, bars and beachfront venues within the same property.

That's worth considering when comparing hotels.

If you expect to eat at your resort regularly, don't simply compare room prices.

Compare what's available once you're there.

There are also dining options beyond the hotels, particularly around the main tourism precinct and neighbouring areas.

For travellers who want dozens of independent restaurants immediately outside the hotel, Seminyak or Sanur may be a better fit.

For travellers who appreciate the convenience of excellent resort dining, Nusa Dua makes a lot of sense.

SHOPPING IN NUSA DUA

Visit The Collection

Nusa Dua isn't where we'd send you for Bali's most extensive shopping expedition.

But you're certainly not cut off.

Bali Collection provides shopping and dining within the main tourism precinct, while additional shops and local businesses can be found outside the resort zone.

For most visitors, shopping here is an addition to the resort holiday rather than the reason for choosing Nusa Dua.

NUSA DUA HOTELS & RESORTS

Where Should You Stay in Nusa Dua?

This is one destination where we'd spend considerable time choosing the right hotel.

Nusa Dua includes some of Bali's best-known international resorts, ranging from large family-friendly properties to sophisticated luxury hotels and private villas. ITDC currently lists a substantial collection of major hotels and villas within the precinct.

What Type of Nusa Dua Accommodation Suits You?

Luxury Beachfront Resorts

Best for travellers wanting high levels of service, direct beach access, restaurants, spas and extensive facilities.

Family Resorts

Look carefully at swimming pools, children's clubs, room configurations, dining and how easily children can access the beach.

Couples Resorts

Consider quieter properties, spas, restaurants, adults-oriented facilities and room categories rather than simply choosing the largest resort.

Private Villas

A good option when privacy, space and your own swimming pool matter more than being surrounded by extensive hotel facilities.

Some of Our Nusa Dua Favourites

BlueSun Travel offers a wide selection of Nusa Dua resorts across different styles and price points.

We don't believe the most expensive hotel is automatically the best choice.

The best Nusa Dua resort is the one whose facilities you'll actually use.

Our dedicated Nusa Dua Hotels & Resorts guide will compare locations, resort styles and some of our preferred properties.

IS NUSA DUA RIGHT FOR YOU?

Nusa Dua works particularly well when relaxation, resort facilities and beach time are more important than having a busy neighbourhood immediately outside your hotel.

Choose Nusa Dua If... Consider Somewhere Else If...
You want a high-quality resort holiday You want a busy Bali neighbourhood outside your hotel
Large pools, gardens and resort facilities matter to you Boutique shopping and street life are priorities
You want easy access to a beach Surfing and west-coast waves are important to you
You enjoy spending significant time at your hotel Your hotel is mainly somewhere to sleep between exploring
You appreciate polished, landscaped surroundings You want to feel immersed in everyday Balinese neighbourhood life
You prefer quieter evenings and resort dining Nightlife, bars and beach clubs are essential
You want an easy family or couples holiday Culture and sightseeing are the main reasons for your Bali trip

** Our view: Don't dismiss Nusa Dua because it's purpose-built. That's actually its advantage. If you want a comfortable resort, good facilities, beach access and a holiday where very little effort is required, Nusa Dua does that exceptionally well.

COMPARING NUSA DUA WITH OTHER BALI DESTINATIONS

Nusa Dua sits perfectly in the top 10 destinations to visit in Bali. But how does it stack up against the other top Bali destination contenders?

This section below snapshot comparison to help you make the right holiday decision:

NUSA DUA OR SANUR?

This is an important comparison because both destinations appeal to travellers looking for a more relaxed Bali holiday.

Choose Nusa Dua when the resort itself is a major part of your holiday and you value extensive facilities, landscaped surroundings and luxury beachfront accommodation.

Choose Sanur when you want to walk outside your hotel and easily explore cafés, restaurants, shops and a more established neighbourhood.

Put simply:

Nusa Dua = resort lifestyle.

Sanur = destination lifestyle.

NUSA DUA OR SEMINYAK?

These are very different Bali holidays.

Choose Nusa Dua for luxury resorts, relaxation, beach time, large swimming pools and quieter evenings.

Choose Seminyak for restaurants, shopping, beach clubs, bars and a busier social atmosphere.

If you expect to spend most of your day inside your resort, Nusa Dua probably wins.

If you expect to spend much of it outside your hotel, Seminyak deserves stronger consideration.

👉 Explore Seminyak →

NUSA DUA OR UBUD?

They're almost opposites — which is precisely why they work so well together.

Choose Nusa Dua for beaches, pools, resorts and relaxation.

Choose Ubud for culture, temples, rice fields, restaurants, wellness and tropical countryside.

For a longer Bali holiday, we'd seriously consider combining them.

Ubud + Nusa Dua gives you several days exploring Bali followed by several days when doing absolutely nothing becomes a perfectly acceptable itinerary.

👉 Explore Ubud →

NUSA DUA OR TANJUNG BENOA?

These neighbouring areas are often grouped together, but they're not identical.

Choose Nusa Dua if the polished resort environment, luxury hotels and landscaped tourism precinct appeal to you.

Choose Tanjung Benoa if watersports, a somewhat busier local environment and a broader mixture of accommodation are higher priorities.

The exact hotel matters considerably in either location.

GETTING TO NUSA DUA

How fard is the airport, your hotel, shops and attractions.

Seminyak is on Bali's southwest coast, north of Legian and Kuta.

Travel time from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport varies considerably according to traffic and your exact hotel location.

For that reason, we would avoid promising a specific "20-minute" or "30-minute" transfer on the page.

When arranging your Bali holiday, BlueSun Travel can package your accommodation with airport transfers, flights, tours and travel insurance, giving you one itinerary rather than a collection of unrelated bookings.

HOW LONG SHOULD YOU STAY IN NUSA DUA?

How many days do you recommend for staying in Nusa Dua?

For a dedicated resort holiday, five to seven nights works particularly well.

If you're travelling to Bali for longer, we'd consider combining Nusa Dua with somewhere that delivers a distinctly different experience.

Nusa Dua + Ubud
Probably our strongest combination — culture and exploration followed by resort relaxation.

Nusa Dua + Sanur
Two relaxed coastal destinations, although we'd generally only combine them on a longer holiday because the contrast is smaller.

Nusa Dua + Seminyak
Luxury resort relaxation followed by restaurants, shopping and a livelier west-coast atmosphere.

Don't add another destination merely because you have another three nights available.

Sometimes the better decision is simply to stay where you are and unpack properly.
