Embark on the ultimate Ningaloo experience departing from Exmouth, available from March to July. With the option of booking to either swim with these gentle giants on the Ningaloo Reef or for those who prefer to keep dry, you can stay on the vessel to observe whale sharks in their natural environment. Swimmers will get the opportunity to slip into the water for the unforgettable experience of swimming with a whale shark in a full day experience complete with souvenir photos and video.

Our Observer option is ideal for people who want to watch their friends and family enjoy the experience but prefer to stay on deck rather than join in with our big, spotty friends! Observers will view the whale shark interactions only from the vessel on this wildlife tour and cannot swim with whale sharks in any circumstances.

Minimum numbers are required for this tour to operate. If minimum numbers are not met, you will be contacted by a member of our team the day before your scheduled tour and you will be offered an opportunity to reschedule or, alternatively, you may choose to cancel your booking and receive a full refund.

Depart from Exmouth via bus transfer to Tantabiddi where you will transfer to our well-equipped vessel for your unforgettable adventure with the world’s largest fish.

• Coach transfer from your Exmouth accommodation
• Wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkel, with a range of prescription masks available

• Swimmers will receive a pre-whale shark snorkel lesson onboard the vessel followed by a morning snorkel and a swim with whale sharks in their natural habitat
• Observers can enjoy the morning snorkel on the beautiful Ningaloo Reef then remain on the vessel to observe the whale sharks
• Morning tea, lunch and refreshments throughout the day
• Afternoon snorkel on the beautiful Ningaloo reef, if time permits

Your comfort and safety are our priority, and our experienced crew will brief and assist you throughout the day with information about the Ningaloo Reef and whale sharks, including sex, behaviour, feeding patterns and more. Our swimmers will also be instructed on how to best approach and swim with the whale shark so your encounter with the world’s largest fish is a truly memorable one.

WHAT TO BRING

There are only a handful of things you need to bring on our Deluxe Whale Shark Tour:

• Swimwear and towel
• Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
• Any personal medication you require during the day

We recommend wearing polarised sunglasses to reduce glare and assist in seeing the animals, especially important as an observer.

If you haven’t spent a lot of time on boats, it can be a good idea to take a sea sickness tablet on the morning of your tour. These must be purchased prior to your tour date.

NEED TO KNOW

Whale sharks are completely wild, and we do not disrupt their natural behaviours in any way.

If you join the morning or afternoon snorkels on the Ningaloo Reef, you must be physically fit with prior snorkelling experience or be a strong swimmer and have the ability to swim unassisted for 50 metres in open ocean conditions.

SWIMMERS

Your swimming ability will be assessed by our crew during the morning snorkel. You must be physically fit with prior snorkelling experience or be a strong swimmer and able to swim unassisted for 50 metres in open ocean conditions. You will need to be comfortable in the water without a floatation device as each whale shark swim involves between 5–7 minutes of swimming in the open ocean, and the swims are repeated several times with short five-minute rest periods between the swims. You can opt out of swims at any time if you wish.

Participants must be at least 6 years of age and proof of age may be required for child rates. All children will need full adult supervision and be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the tour. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on the vessel.

OBSERVERS

As an observer, you will observe whale sharks from the vessel during the whale shark interactions only, and you will not be able to swim with a whale shark at any point during the tour. They may not be totally visible from the surface. Observer fares are limited.

Observers on the Deluxe Whale Shark Tour must be at least 6 years of age. All children will need full adult supervision and be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the tour. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on the vessel.
